ENTROPION CORRECTION/REPAIR SURGERY
Eyelid entropion can be treated with surgical correction/repair.
Lower eyelid entropion:
The most common form of lower eyelid entropion caused by ageing can usually be addressed with lower lid tightening and muscle reattachment procedure. This can be performed under light sedation. Duration of surgery is usually 30 to 45 minutes per eyelid. Absorbable sutures (stitches) are used for the skin and suture removal may not be required.
Upper eyelid entropion:
Upper eyelid entropion is almost always caused by cicatricial changes due to chronic inflammation and scarring of the eyelid. Upper eyelid entropion correction surgery can be performed and at the same time a double eyelid crease is deliberately created to help to correct the upper eyelid entropion. It is performed under light sedation and takes about 1 to 1.5 hours per eyelid. Absorbable sutures (stitches) are used for the skin and suture removal may not be required.
